Today in Pampanga — March 14, 2026

CRK Alert: Qatar Airways has canceled its Doha–Clark service today, Friday March 13, citing operational scheduling. Cebu Pacific’s Hong Kong–Clark route is also affected, with select morning departures canceled. Passengers are advised to check directly with their carrier for rebooking options. The Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) has not issued a formal advisory as of this morning. Middle East routes to Clark remain under Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) suspension with no announced resumption date.

Fuel Watch: Oil industry insiders are projecting a ₱17–18/liter diesel increase effective next Tuesday, March 18. This would be the steepest single-week diesel hike in the Philippines in years. This comes on top of the ₱17.50–24.25/liter diesel increase already implemented this week, according to monitoring by the Department of Energy (DOE). Pampanga trucking operators and jeepney drivers should be aware that two consecutive weeks of this scale will push diesel prices to historically high levels. The DOE’s formal announcement is expected Monday night. PampangaToday will update fuel prices immediately.

Toll Update: NLEX Corporation toll rates for Class 1 vehicles stay at the recently adjusted rates. This follows the latest increase authorized by the Toll Regulatory Board. While transit times have reportedly improved with lighter traffic on some sections, daily commute costs have risen for regular NLEX users.

🏛️ Capitol News: The Office of Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda is coordinating with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 3. They are working together to monitor wet markets across Pampanga. Their goal is to check for potential profiteering following the fuel price surge. Officials are concerned that elevated fuel and transport costs will be used to justify price increases on basic goods beyond what is warranted. DTI is empowered to file cases against traders found violating the Price Act (Republic Act 7581). Residents who observe unreasonable price increases at their local market are encouraged to report to the DTI Region 3 hotline.

🤝 Community: The local government units of Mabalacat City and Angeles City are separately reviewing proposals to provide direct fuel subsidies to registered tricycle drivers operating within their jurisdictions. No formal ordinance has been filed yet in either LGU, and no timeline has been announced. Tricycle operators’ associations in both cities have reportedly met with their respective mayors this week to request assistance. Nationally, the Marcos administration’s ₱5,000 PUV subsidy for jeepney operators has not yet been extended to tricycles or to Central Luzon on a confirmed timeline.
